Andrea Iannone was caught in November when there were anabolic steroids in his body. He asserts his innocence, but remains blocked even after today’s hearing.

The Italian Aprilia factory driver Andrea Iannone delivered a pisitioven doping test at the Sepang GP on November 3, and was shown to take anabolic steroids. The anti-doping agency WADA found a prohibited substance during this routine check as part of the FIM Grand Prix World Championship in Malaysia. Iannione then requested the opening of the B-sample, which took place in Dresden on January 7th and gave the same result as the analysis of the A-sample.

The hearing of the “International Disciplinary Court” (CDI) took place today as planned at the FIM headquarters in Mies near Geneva in Switzerland. In the presence of three CDI judges, Andrea Iannone was able to comment on the case. He claims the steroids got into his body from eating steaks.

The process has not yet been completed and the final CDI decision on the duration of the ban is still pending. Andrea Iannone remains temporarily suspended, he may not take part in any motorcycle competitions (races).

According to the World Anti-Doping Code and the FIM Anti-Doping Code, FIM may not pass on any further information on this procedure for the time being.
