Changanassery: on Pattappakal Paral – Kumarankeri Road, a van coming to unload garbage was stopped by Natukkar and handed over to the police. The incident occurred around 5pm yesterday. A van full of stale food scraps and garbage from a commercial establishment was parked on a busy street and unloaded.
The locals gathered and stopped the van and when the police arrived after informing the police, the locals handed over the vehicle full of garbage.
Together with Shuchikaranawarat, the local population and the Residents’ Association had removed the waste and cleaned it. Even after this, the locals got mad at the constant dumping of rubbish here.
Locals argue that by conducting night patrols in urban areas under the guidance of the Municipal Corporation, these people choose such inland areas to dump garbage and hotel waste.
Last month, under the leadership of the municipal corporation, large-scale reclamation work was carried out after the pedestrian crossing through this path was difficult due to the piles of garbage.
