The president did not beautify the situation, he called this move by the Dunaújváros municipality led by Tamás Pintér a despicable move, saying that there is nothing lower than working to bring about the collapse of the city’s largest employer. The president outlined, dr. With the help of Lajos Mészáros and the government, they have been working for a long time and are still working to bring the ironworks out of the abyss, to ensure the workers’ livelihood, and to have a realistic chance of saving it with a strong investor.
He also highlighted that, on the other hand, the city government did nothing to save the ironworks apart from political gain. He didn’t think it could get any worse than this, and with this act he actually takes away the wages of the workers.
On the one hand, this municipal action is legally problematic and illegal, since in the liquidation procedures ordered on the basis of the relevant government decree, enforcement cannot be ordered and enforcement actions cannot be taken within 60 days from the entry into force of the latter decree. This provision covers the liquidation procedure of Dunaferr concerning the owner of ISD Kokszoló Kft.
And from a moral point of view, there is no need to explain, since what kind of municipality is it that is in such a difficult situation that Dunaferr is still on the verge of collapse.
In relation to the topic, Krisztián Molnár also said that a day or two before the start of Dunaferr’s liquidation proceedings, a HUF 1.5 billion contract was signed with a private communication company linked to the local government, with no visible performance behind it, it seems overpriced, no visible value for money. The assigned liquidator naturally regarded this contract as not having been concluded, will examine it and, if necessary (for example, if it is proven that a significant withdrawal of capital has taken place), will file a criminal complaint. As the president said, according to some assumptions, the municipality may have taken petty revenge with its collection action, but it was also suggested that the municipality will withdraw the procedure today (March 9 – ed.). The president stated that even if the procedure initiated by the municipality goes ahead, the workers’ salaries will be ensured with the help of the government.
Dr. Lajos Mészáros spoke about how they have been working with the president and the government for months to save the ironworks and ensure the livelihood of the 4,300 families who work directly here. The representative reminded that the local government recently boasted through a significant media campaign that it would help the factory by rescheduling business tax of about two billion forints. Knowing this, his current step is incomprehensible, since he wants to illegally collect local tax, and this is completely contrary to his previous position. The representative emphasized that they will continue to do everything they can with the government and the president in order to save the ironworks.
Dunaferr was also mentioned in the Government Info
Dunaferr was also mentioned in Thursday’s Government Information. In response to Origó’s question, Gergely Gulyás, the minister in charge of the Prime Minister’s Office, said that “in such a situation, the fact that the municipality threatens the preservation of the achieved results and the ability of the company to operate normally is amazing and outrageous, but also illegal.” He added: “we will pay everyone’s salary, and we ask the local government that if it can no longer help, then at least not make it difficult for us to try to save the iron industry in Dunaújváros”, he said at noon on Thursday
