Abtsgmünd. The municipality is also pushing for debt reduction in the 2021 budget year. As the graphic opposite shows, this is not a new venture. Debt has been falling since 2017; A big step was taken in 2019 and the debt level was almost halved.
This year, too, the municipality seizes the opportunity of a special repayment. Almost 866 000 euros are spent on it. Together with the ordinary (planned) debt repayment of a good 304 Abtsgmünd pays back EUR 1.17 million in outstanding debts. This reduces the debt to just under 2.7 million euros – the per capita debt to 359 euros. A comparatively excellent value. As planned, new loans will not be taken out in 2021.
The low level of debt opens up the possibility of financing investments at least in part through loans in 2022, if funds are tight. Mayor Armin Kiemel has already indicated this in one of the committee meetings.
