The local community gathered in grief: – We must help each other

Around 80 people, mainly from Berger and Svelvik, gathered on Sunday in Svelvik church for mourning service, writes Drammens Tidende.

– A family has been abruptly torn away, and the whole community stands together, said acting pastor Berit Basmo Kvidaland when she opened the service, according to the newspaper.

– There are many different wounds that will now heal. And it can take time. It can take a long time. We must help each other so that the wounds have the opportunity to heal – that is the task of all of us, Kvidaland continued.

A family of four was found dead after the fire in a residential house in Svelvik on Monday night. What was once considered a tragic fire is now being investigated as murder, suicide and arson.

The deceased are a 43-year-old man, a 42-year-old woman, a twelve-year-old girl and a ten-year-old boy. The deceased family father is now charged with murder and arson.
