The concert was opened by Daumants Liepiņš, whose magazine Pianist recognized as one of the four young pianists who are warmly recommended to follow in 2020. This opportunity was open to the audience at the opening concert of the LNSO season, where Liepiņš performed one of the most virtuoso piano concerts in the history of music – Prokofiev’s Second Piano Concerto. In addition, the concert featured Scriabin’s Second Symphony and a new work by Linda Leiman, a resident LNSO resident composer endowed with French sophistication. Longing. Flashing. Bonding.
Linda Leimane writes smart and powerful music, which technically masterfully combines bright intellect and versatile temperament. Linda’s list of compositions includes instrumental chamber music, ballet, electroacoustic works, music for chamber orchestra and large orchestra. Opuss Dialexica was nominated for the Grand Music Prize.
The concert was also attended by the former President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis with Mrs. Iveta Vējonis, who is the patroness of the LNSO, as well as the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Latvia Nauris Puntulis.
The opening concert kicked off the LNSO’s multifaceted autumn program.
