The Little Singers at the Wooden Cross give voice to the mission

The Pontifical Mission Societies (OPM) are joining forces for the first time with the Little Singers at the Wooden Cross for a unique tour from October 9 to 13.

“To well-born souls, value does not wait for the number of years,” Pierre Corneille says to Rodrigue in The Cid. And with well-adjusted voices, the mission does not wait for the number of years either! For the first time, the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) have decided to join forces with the Little Singers at the Wooden Cross for a unique tour. From October 9 to 13, the manécanterie will perform in four different cities (Dijon, Lyon, Annecy and Belleville-en-Beaujolais) and offer a show around the theme of the Mission. The profits will be donated to benefit dioceses in difficulty around the world.

“The goal of this partnership is to give new impetus to the missionary spirit as Pope Francis asks us to do,” explains Romaric Bexon, project manager at OPM, to Aleteia. “Each young member of the Little Singers of the Wooden Cross has individually committed to praying for the dioceses around the world. This tour should help develop this universal missionary awareness among these young people!” Also as part of this partnership, the Petits Chanteurs à la Croix de Bois were able to shoot a clip at the Lorette house in Lyon, where Blessed Pauline Jaricot lived and which has since become the headquarters of the OPM. A filming which allowed them to discover a little better this incredible figure from Lyon and missionary.

Their new show is built around a common thread which draws a parallel between the life of a little singer and that of great missionary figures. Spectators will thus be able to listen to varied pieces ranging from Where charity by Maurice Duruffé, Look at the humility of Godl’Ave Maria of Caccini but also of the French variety like When we only have love by Jacques Brel or even Take me to the ends of the earth by Charles Aznavour. Spectators will also have the pleasure of discovering some world music, witnesses of the international tours of the Petits Chanteurs à la Croix de Bois and of this music which knows no borders.
