Despite the conditions created by the pandemic, the activity at the Liepāja Puppet Theater has not stopped. In two weeks, the premiere of the amazing circus mystery directed by Ģirts Šulis will take place, and on March 26, there will be an online premiere for Lelde Kaupuža’s production,

The heroes of the show “Little Man” have become puppets who have learned the art of acting in games with children. Director Ģirts Šolis explains: “All the dolls that participate in us are collected in different shops, in their own homes, all of them have been in the hands of real children and have played other roles in home theaters.”

Inspired by the story of Erik Kestner, the director creates “The Little Man” as a circus performance. And like the hero of the German writer, this one seeks to explore the world through the unusual.

“The basic idea is to grow up, that nothing ever comes for free, you have to invest some work, you have to learn something in order to be recognized.

And then our Little Man goes through that path. And so does Kestner. He absolutely wanted to become a circus artist, trained cats and everything. However, it took quite a lot of effort to become a circus artist, ”says Šolis.

The creators of the show highlight the collaboration with illusionists Daci and Enrico Pecolli. Therefore, the action is saturated with real tricks, even worthy of the legendary magician Harry Hudini. The online premiere of “Little Man” is scheduled for April 10.

On March 26, the dog girl Lote, created by the Estonian writer Andrus Kivirehks, will go to the small audience. In the play directed by Lelde Kaupuža, she will save the Easter Bunnies from a devastating catastrophe.

The director outlines the upcoming adventures: “The Easter bunny has lost all its colors. He wakes up in the morning when he has to start painting eggs and all the colors are black! He is calling Commissioner Rex, but Commissioner Rex is gone and cannot help him. But at that moment, Lote has decided that he wants to visit the Easter Bunny to get acquainted… ”

This is where it all begins. The Easter bunny actually turns out to be the bunny Lina, the color search turns into a real detective, but the tension is exacerbated by the approach of Easter.

As actresses Signe Apse and Vija Mežale note: “Tragedy will not be like that. Comedy is not. What is it then? It’s about life.

It just happens – you have a confused mind, you lose color, you lose joy, friends come – we find joy. Everything as in life. “After the real events.”

The lottery and Easter, created after real events, as well as other performances will be broadcast on the “Zoom” platform.
