The Lithuanian hockey team started the tournament in Poland with a painful defeat for the representatives of Latvia

In the tournament that started on Sunday in Katowice, the Lithuanian national team lost 0: 5 to the Latvian U-23 team.

In addition to the winning closest Latvian shifts, the Polish and Estonian national teams will also take part in this tournament, which will end the first day of the tournament.

The Lithuanian national team actively started the match and by pressing the opponents in their own zone did not allow the Latvians to easily enter the zone of our square. The pressure repeatedly allowed to take over the puck near the opponents’ goal, but the Lithuanians failed to punish the opponents for their mistakes.

The Latvians took control of the game after two Lithuanian fouls. Initially, Timonas Mažulis illegally defeated the opponent in their own zone, and soon in the minority Ugnius Čižas was punished for throwing the hockey outside the field.

After less than half a minute, one of its most experienced players, Nikolai Jeliseyev, realized a double quantitative advantage in the Latvian national team (12:50, ref. Deniss Fiodorov, Frank Razgal).

The Latvians doubled their lead after Daniel Goršanov’s exact throw (16:17, res. Robertas Petrovičas). The Lithuanians had their chance to soften the result at the end of the quarter, but after escaping a quick attack against two against one, they decided to end the attack themselves. Markas Kaleinikovas hit directly at the opponent’s goalkeeper Janis Voris.

The Latvians started the second half by realizing their chances perfectly. At first, Frank Razgal excelled from a sharp angle (23:09, ref. Patrick Ozolas, N. Jelisejev), and later in a quick attack, Tom Anderson, who escaped against the goalkeeper, disarmed Artūras Pavliukovas with a second throw (25:00).

During the rest of the second half, the Lithuanians managed to equalize the game and the Latvians did not score more goals. True, the representatives of our country did not pose a serious threat at the gates of opponents.

In the first half of the third half, A. Pavliukov had to demonstrate his abilities several times after dangerous attacks from rivals. The Lithuanians were closest to the goal with a quantitative advantage, but Dino Mukovozas hit the goal bar, and Ilja Četvertak’s repeated throw was effectively blocked by the goalkeeper of the Latvian national team.

Moreover, when adjusting the last seconds of the Lithuanian majority, the Latvians snapped into a quick attack and scored a goal in the minority. The author of the goal is Kristapas Skrastins (54:49, res. Forward Gvido Jansonas).

After the match he was recognized as the best player in the Lithuanian national team Ilja Četvertakas, in the Latvian ranks such a prize went to Janis Vorius, who supported all 24 throws.
