Finance Minister Gintare Skaiste said that increasing both amounts means that the income of the minimum wage will increase by 83.5 euros per month after paying taxes.
The minimum hourly wage in Lithuania will increase next year to € 5.14 from the current € 4.47.
Expenditure from the state budget next year will increase by € 37.6 million due to the increase in the minimum wage and the non-taxable minimum.
The government’s decision on the minimum wage amount is final.
The final decisions on the calculation of the basic salary of civil servants and the tax-free minimum will instead be taken by the parliament.
This year the minimum wage in Lithuania is 730 euros per month before taxes, while the minimum non-taxable wage is 540 euros per month.
