“The second wave of the epidemic is here”
“The situation is serious” in France, where “the circulation of the virus is reaching an extremely high level”, justified Thursday Jean Castex by unveiling these new measures to try to stem the epidemic of coronavirus. “The second wave is here,” he continued.
According to the Prime Minister, the incidence rate, that is to say the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants, increased by 40% in one week, to reach 251 on the national territory. And the reproduction rate of the virus induces a doubling of the number of cases every two weeks.
“Depending on the results, we will reassess the device to possibly harden it”, also announced the head of government, promising a “difficult month of November”. “The new cases of today are the patients of tomorrow and some will die,” he warned.
