The Lions of Sicily: plot and cast of the series with Miriam Leone

The Lions of Sicily the new original Italian TV series by Disney+ debuts on October 25th on the streaming platform exclusively and was presented within the framework of the Rome Film Festival. Present on the red carpet of the event were the director Paolo Genovese and the main cast from Miriam Leone to Michele Riondino, Vincio Marchioni and Paolo Briguglia.

The series in 8 episodes released 4 on Wednesday October 25th and 4 on November 1st is the adaptation of the novel of the same name by Stefania Auci which traces the true story of the Florio family left Calabria at the beginning of the 19th century and moved to Sicily to Palermo, where they became among the richest entrepreneurs on the island starting from the spice trade. Auci has published a second novel The Winter of the Lions which could become the subject of a second season of the series but Paolo Genovese did not say anything about it during the presentation of the series.

Miriam Leone, splendid on the red carpet of the Rome Film Festival, which we will soon see in the role of Oriana Fallaci in a miniseries for Paramount+, plays here Giulia Portalupi, lover in love with Vincenzo Florio (Riondino), Milanese transplanted to Palermo with her family. Character who appears at the end of the second episode.

Ludovica Rampoldi and Stefano Sardo wrote the adaptation of the series The Lions of Sicily, which will be distributed on HULU in the United States, Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ in the rest of the world. The end credits of each episode are accompanied by the song Last by Laura Pausini also available in its Spanish version, entitled Span, by selecting the audio of the episodes in Spanish.
