Experts have warned that hearing impairment or loss may be a sign of high blood cholesterol, so you should pay close attention to this sense.

Millions of people around the world may not realize that they have high levels of harmful cholesterol in the blood, as published by “The sun”.

Cholesterol is the fatty substance in the blood that builds healthy cells, but too much in the body can be harmful.
An unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, smoking, and alcohol intake increase the buildup of cholesterol in the artery walls.
Previous studies have shown that it is possible to detect some evidence of high cholesterol through the eyes and feet, and now experts provide an important sign by ear that can also be a significant indicator of high cholesterol in the blood.
The expert, Peter Byrum, an ear doctor, said that changes in hearing could be an unconventional sign of high cholesterol, which is called the silent killer.
“While it may not be the first warning sign, it is certainly a symptom worth paying attention to,” Byrom added.
Byrom explained that cholesterol makes the arteries narrow, which inevitably limits blood flow, pointing out that the ear depends on the blood flowing to it and cannot function properly without it, hence the hearing problems.
He added: “When blood flow to the sensitive parts of the inner ear is damaged, this can lead to hearing loss, and then people with high cholesterol may start to find it difficult to hear loud sounds and understand conversation in noisy environments.”
Byrom stressed that high cholesterol leads to gradual hearing loss, and this often affects both ears equally.
The audiologist urged anyone with symptoms to get tested, as the situation could worsen over time if left untreated.
