The Lingering Trauma and Struggles of South Korean Actor Lee Dong Gun

The younger brother of South Korean actor Lee Dong Gun was assassinated while studying in Australia in March 2008. Over the past 15 years, he rarely mentioned the topic of his brother to the outside world. It was not until recently that he became a regular cast member of the show “My Little Kid” that he made the past public. Details: It has been 15 years since his younger brother passed away. He also admitted for the first time on the show that he suffered from trauma syndrome (PTSD) due to the loss of his family and had been drinking for 10 years. For this reason, he was admitted to a psychiatric hospital for nearly 2 months.

Li Dongjian used the program “My Little Baby” to reveal his private affairs that were rarely exposed to the public, including his divorce, the assassination of his daughter and his younger brother. He relied on alcohol to anesthetize himself, and even his friends around him couldn’t stand it. He once advised him to “do it from day to day.” “I started drinking soju like that. I drank too much.” In order to solve his drinking habit, he finally went to the clinic for consultation. When the doctor asked him how often he drank, he honestly told the doctor, “It would be quicker to ask me when I didn’t drink.” , I drink almost every day.”

On the show, Li Dongjian revealed that it has been 10 years since he started drinking. “As long as I lie down, I will have more thoughts. I used to be unable to sleep for several hours because of this. I started drinking because I was scared.” When asked in detail about the reasons for drinking, he said Frankly speaking, it is related to his family, “I have lost family members, and I have a younger brother who is much different in age from me. Rather than being an older brother, I feel that my younger brother is more like my child.”

Li Dongjian’s brother was assassinated while studying in Australia in March 2008. He also started drinking alcohol. He admitted on the show for the first time that he had been diagnosed with PTSD in the past. In order to correct the reason for his drinking, he went into a mental hospital without telling his family. He received treatment in the hospital for nearly 2 months, but for those 2 months of treatment, he thought “it didn’t help much. What’s the point even in my opinion?”

Li Dongjian revealed his inner scars in front of the camera, which made his mother feel distressed. He said, “I only think about my sadness (the pain of losing a child), but I didn’t take care of my son. I’m sorry and feel guilty.” The audience felt sour after saying this.
