“The photo was taken from the Batu Alien location in the Kaliadem area, Cangkringan on Thursday (27/5) night. From the camera file it was 23:07 WIB,” said Gunarto when contacted by reporters, Friday (28/5/2021).

Gunarto said that when he took the picture, he actually saw a white light falling. He called the fall of the light so fast.

“What is certain is that when I said that, I actually saw a white light and it was bright enough that it fell from the top to the bottom, I knew it was only one or two seconds, yes, it was very fast, it fell from top to bottom. I saw that it was right at the top. so,” he said.

He admitted that he had often taken photos of the night atmosphere. Sometimes he also managed to capture meteors.

“This event is similar to a meteor that I have seen so far but it is very close because I know it is above the peak. But I don’t know, this is my perspective, because to be honest there was no booming sound,” he said.

He admitted that for 4 months from February to May he was indeed hunting for photos Mount Merapi from sunrise, sunset, and lava at night. Incidentally that night Gunarto was hunting for photos with view full moon.

“So before the incident, I actually finished shooting. I packed my camera in my bag, suddenly a lot of clouds appeared on Merapi and I wanted to take a picture,” he said.

Finally, he decided to do another photoshoot with speed shorter only 4 seconds in the hope that the cloud is still cloud-shaped.

“After starting to press shutter, at that very moment, the bright light appeared and the count of 1 second. If you use it for 60-120 seconds, the cloud is already in the form of smooth motion, it’s no longer cloud-shaped,” he said.
