Tragedy Strikes in Gabon as Driver Recovered from Ogooué River After Bridge Plunge

Lambaréné, Gabon, December 3, 2024 – Tragedy struck the town of Lambaréné, Gabon, last night as the body of 28-year-old Glenn Aboghe Ngounga was pulled from the Ogooué River. Ngounga had tragically fallen into the river on November 29th when the six-wheeled truck he was driving plunged from the Adouma Bridge.

"The lifeless body of Glenn Aboghe Ngounga, who was trapped in the wreckage of the truck…" was recovered at 8:58 pm, according to a statement from local authorities.

Family members were present at the recovery site, providing a somber backdrop to the grim discovery.

The horrific accident, which occurred in the first district, left sections of guardrail mangled around the truck’s rear axle, showcasing the immense force of impact.

"Parts of the guard rails found sticking to the back wheels of the truck attest to the violence of the impact," said authorities.

Local authorities, including officials from the Court of First Instance of Lambaréné, are working alongside Judicial Police Officers (OPJ) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
