The life of Vladimir Karolev – in the hands of God

Vladimir Karolev, one of the most colorful economists in Bulgaria, has been unconscious for four months now. Doctors have stopped the drugs that kept the popular politician in an artificial coma.

From now on, his life is in the hands of God, who alone will decide when exactly to wake up the talkative economist, who before the incident in the mountains did not leave the TV studios and made attractive comments about the financial crises around the world and in our country.

Karolev’s operated ankle was restored, as well as many other internal injuries, which the doctors from “Pirogov” successfully alleviated. There was no problem with his bone system, everything healed with honey and butter. Vlado’s body was quite strong and managed to overcome the difficulties, although he lost more than 25 kilograms. Because of his good condition, the specialists in white aprons decided that there was no point in medication to keep him in an artificial coma.

Vlado’s relatives were interested in his condition on a daily basis. They were adamant that they would do what was necessary so that Karolev could return to the normal rhythm of life, and they were already considering whether he regained consciousness to move him to a suitable medical facility abroad. Doctors also gave hope for recovery. According to them, Vlado could wake up at any moment, but he could drive in a coma for years, as he had with Michael Schumacher. For almost 6 years, the seven-time Formula 1 champion was in a coma after a head injury at a famous ski resort.

We remind you that Vladimir Karolev was found by rescuers in Pirin on May 10 after a nearly 12-hour rescue operation that began in the afternoon of May 9. Rescuers found that he was helpless and unconscious. He fainted from the fall and remained at the scene until he was found shortly after midnight. He was immediately taken to the hospital in Razlog. Doctors notice that Karolev has a polytrauma, a broken skull, cerebral hemorrhages and several chest injuries.

He is believed to have been injured after a fall that lasted about 400 meters on steep terrain, probably when he slipped. Initial forecasts for his health are not encouraging at all. Vladimir Karolev continues to fight for his life for days. In “Pirogov” he was intubated and placed on hardware ventilation. One of his ankles was operated on urgently because he was “in a very deplorable condition”. Prof. Asen Baltov, then head of the largest hospital in Bulgaria, made the observations personally.

Vlado’s friends are adamant that once he has managed to overcome the severe craniocerebral trauma and several breasts, combined with an ankle injury, he will also come out of the coma, Weekend writes.
