We remind you that the cycle of concert talks “Closer” was started by LSO last summer to invite listeners to meet remotely in music and talks with orchestra musicians on the “Big Amber” stage. “The audience’s beloved ensemble is mainly associated with a wonderful sound and stage overview in the concert hall, but now is the time to get to know the unique personalities that make up this orchestra,” says ULO head Uldis Lipskis. The broadcasts have reached many thousands of people all over Latvia, educating, delighting and uplifting them. “

So far, 18 live broadcasts have been made, and these recordings are still viewable on the orchestra’s website.

In turn, the concert series “Symphony Closer” introduces listeners to the cornerstones of the world’s symphonic repertoire – beautiful, classical symphonies that everyone should know. “The” Symphony Closer “version of the new cycle” Closer “has gained considerable popularity in the Internet environment, and influential critics see such concerts as very useful and high performance quality, nominating the cycle for the Latvian Television and Latvian Radio annual award” Kilograms of Culture “,” says Uldis Lipskis.

As in the previous season, the “Symphony Closer” broadcast will begin with a conversation between music reviewer Orest Silabriez and the concert program conductor, which will reveal the context of the symphony’s creation and the details of the masterpiece’s structure. After the performance of the symphony, in a conversation led by Timur Thomson, the director of the concert hall “Lielais dzintars”, the orchestra’s specially invited regular listeners, known as indispensable guests at the orchestra’s concerts, will share their impressions of the musical adventure.

The concert series “Symphony Closer” has so far performed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s 40th Symphony, Jean Sibelius’ Third Symphony, Antonin Dvorak’s Ninth Symphony “From the New World” and Peter Tchaikovsky’s Fourth, or Fate’s Symphony. All of these concert recordings are now available on the ticket sales website for a small fee “Ticket Paradise”.

This season’s “Symphony Closer” program will feature Józef Haydn’s 104th or London Symphony on September 10 at 7 pm under the direction of conductor Andris Veismanis, while on November 12 at 7 pm the audience will hear the legendary Imants Kalniņš’s Freedom or Fourth Symphony at Gunt Kuzma’s reading. But in the concert talk cycle “Closer” on October 7 at 7 pm in the concert talk there will be an opportunity to discover the exciting personality of percussionist Edgars Vaivods, and on December 9 at 7 pm the program will focus on trombone master Robins Jānis Lellis.

In the live Internet mode, the approximately one-hour concerts in the series “Symphony Closer” and the approximately 40-minute-long concert conversations in the series “Closer” will be available free of charge for both the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra Web page video gallery as well as the orchestra Facebook page. After the live broadcasts, all concert recordings will be available “Ticket Paradise” already for a fee, but concert calls will still be available right there for free.
