On 22 December 2022, the President of Latvia Egils Levits presented the letter of accreditation to the next Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to the Czech Republic, Elita Kuzma.
E. Kuzma began working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1992. She was an ambassador to Austria, Sweden, Italy, Germany. During the work, the functions of non-resident ambassador to the Holy See, the Kingdom of Kuwait, Albania, Malta, San Marino, Liechtenstein, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland and Hungary were also fulfilled. Between 2012 and 2013 you represented Latvia at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
Significant work experiences have also been accumulated in the central apparatus of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, working at the Directorate of the European Union, as head of the Directorate of Economic and Bilateral Relations, as well as performing the functions of Undersecretary of State in the First Political Directorate .
Since 18 August 2017, Ambassador Elita Kuzma has been the head of State Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
E. Kuzma was awarded the Cross of Merit (2nd class), as well as receiving high marks from other countries – the Swedish Royal Order “North Star” and the Great Austrian Gold Medal on a ribbon.
Elita Kuzma replaces Gunta Pastori, who has represented Latvia’s interests in the Czech Republic since 2018.
