The Scuola del Popolo restarts with its fifth year of life and with the opening of membership to the activities of Oristano. The formula is always the same: totally free social interaction activities, managed by volunteer entertainers, who have the sole aim of promoting “being together” in a constructive way. «Through these meetings – he explains Ivo Vaccaamong the founders of the people’s school – we also set ourselves the objective of overcoming the filters of simplification used by the mass media which have accustomed us to simple, easy and immediate slogans. However, this apparent convenience hides a poisonous fruit for our democracy.” This simplification «in the long run translates into a lack of habit of conscious criticism and the renunciation of understanding reality», continues Vacca, «today in-depth analysis is pushed away with annoyance and discussions on the great themes of life disappear, indirectly encouraging solitude and social isolation”. This explains the work of People’s School which, after its debut, transformed into a national cultural association with the aim of continuing and better structuring the project launched in 2019 by the CGIL, becoming the new “Scuola del Popolo cultural association”. «This year too we have been able to count on the availability – we take this opportunity to thank them again – of the various educational institutions that will host us during this long journey: the Othoca Institute, the Cpia 4, the Comprehensive Institute 3-4, the Mossa Institute of Oristano, but also the Don Deodato Meloni Institute in Nuraxinieddu and the former primary school in Torregrande.
