Tennis is an extremely mental sport, you can have the best game or technique, but without the right mentality it will be even more difficult to be a great competitor. The 16-year-old girl has spoken about this aspect, Mirra Andreevawho surprised the tennis world this year by shining on the WTA professional circuit at such a young age, emerging as one of the stars of the future.
The Russian is already number 57 in the world and was one of the protagonists of the World Tennis League that was held recently in Abu Dhabi, where she represented the “Eagles” team. From there, Andreeeva spoke with “Gulf News” about how to handle some situations during matches, what she is trying to learn from legends like Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal.
Andreeva: I was very happy to play with Andrey, Daniil and Sophia
“After the double fault, I thought it was over, but we contested it and the ball went in, so we were very happy.
Sometimes I get angry when things don’t go the way I want. I think about those mistakes and thoughts rush into my head. If I fail, nothing happens, even Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal also fail. So let it be,” Andreeva declared.
The WTA number 57 also spoke about her presence in this exhibition tournament, where she entered after the withdrawal of the Swiss Belinda Bencic. “When I was first told that I was going to be the substitute in the WTL, I was wondering who was going to withdraw from this tournament.
But Belinda Bencic retired and I had the opportunity to play. I was very happy to play with Andrey, Daniil and Sophia. I didn’t know them very well, but I’m enjoying being with them, since it’s my first big exhibition tournament,” explains the Russian player.
“My goal for the new year is to move up the rankings, which will attract more attention,” Andreeva stated about this great experience prior to the upcoming season.
