In the New Hall of the Latvian National Opera, from November 8, a concert performance for the whole family “Sounds of Music” based on the famous musical by Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein will once again be performed, the representative of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet, Irbe Treile, contact the LETA group.
The role of Maria will be sung by Laura Kancāne or Marlēna Keine, the role of Georg von Trapp by Kalvis Kalniņš or Rihards Miller. Soloists and choral artists of the Latvian National Opera, as well as the vocal ensemble of children and youth “Kolibri” will take part in the production of the concert.
On the other hand, the Narrator will be the actor Kristians Karelins. Kaspars Ādamsons or Matīss Circenis stand at the director’s desk, Dace Wolfarte and Agnese Malnača are the directors of the production.
Describing the setting of the production, Treile says that the young nun Maria is too happy for the convent life, so she becomes governess to the children of retired navy captain Georg von Trapp. to quit Maria brings warmth, joie de vivre and, of course, music to the von Trapp house, regaining the love of the children and the captain.
Based on the motto “Sounds of Music”, the concert show that was first released in 2012 was created with the support of the Latvian National Opera Foundation.
