This product is a model that has been redone using our company’s miniaturization and high-speed processing technology, following the shape and gimmick of the original model.
The left and right divided double tower Manhattan shape, retractable carrying handle and two floppy disk drives are arranged and played in a modern style.
We plan to deliver different game software as a “complete set” including the main unit, keyboard and mouse.
The software will reflect the test results of the “HACKER’S EDITION” currently underway and will be equipped with a “β2 X68000 emulator” that reproduces the OS of the original “Human68k” model.
As a result, you can manage your own resources with this product via the attached dedicated SD card*.
The hardware is light and compact with a weight of about 600g and a dimension of about 65mm wide, 114mm high and 151mm deep so that it can be conveniently carried and stored, and can be displayed on a bookshelf as a decoration interior.
Additionally, the SoC features a 4-core CPU to achieve high-speed processing and is also expandable with a USB connection.
We designed a product that takes advantage of the configuration of the original model, such as adopting a 5-inch floppy disk-like SD card as the recording medium.
Even though it has been more than 35 years since the first model was launched, we have focused on the fact that the number of existing models of the “X68000” series, which is loved by many fans, is decreasing year by year. We launched “Project Z” aimed at development.
The concept of the first project, “X68000 Z”, is “Do something that doesn’t exist, do it if it doesn’t exist”.
We originally intended to announce the details and start pre-orders in October 2022 and ship the products in December of the same year, but we had to postpone this due to the difficulty of bringing the product closer to users and rights negotiations. I was.
Subsequently, with the enthusiastic support of the fans, as creators, we took responsibility and coordinated with various parties and as a result, we were able to deliver it as a product, which led to this announcement.
We are continuing development by listening directly to the needs of experts who have been in contact with the real machine since the release of the first generation X68000.
Our company will challenge the historical “if” of what kind of product it would have been if the X68000 series had continued to evolve to the present day.
