The chronology of Loonkito’s death began when this lion entered Olkelunyiet Village near Amboseli National Park, Wednesday (10/5). This lion deliberately went there to prey on cattle.

The group of Maasai warriors who saw this tried to drive Loonkito away with spears. Unfortunately, Loonkito did not want to leave there.

“The predator was nicknamed the ‘Legendary big cat warrior.’

The conservation group Lion Guardians hails Loonkito as a ‘Symbol of Resilience and Coexistence’.

“It is with heavy days that we share the news of the passing of Loonkito (2004-2023), the oldest male lion in our ecosystem and possibly Africa,” he wrote on Facebook.
