The legendary narrator Juozas Baranauskas died unexpectedly

This message to the portal LRT.lt was confirmed by the daughter of J. Baranauskas.

According to her daughter Erika, her father’s condition deteriorated suddenly. He was taken to hospital on Friday evening.

“The father did not have any diseases, it all came together, maybe, age, heat,” said J. Baranauskas’ daughter.

The husband was married to his wife Stanislava and had children Evaldas and Erika.

On April 30, 1957, Juozas, a law student, became the first narrator of Lithuanian television.

The show started at 7:45 p.m. and lasted two hours and 20 minutes.

People only watched the first TV show on 32 TVs, but by the end of the year, there were already about one and a half thousand TVs. The shows were broadcast from a tiny 40-square-foot studio.
