Legendary coach, Cesar Luis Menotti mentioned the difference between Lionel Messi with Diego Maradona although both managed to lead Argentina to the championship world Cup.
Messi is said to have deserved to stand on Maradona’s equal footing as an Argentine legend after leading the Albiceleste to win the 2022 World Cup. However, Menotti believes there is a key difference between Messi and Maradona.
“They are two different figures. Messi has a lifestyle closely linked to training and football.”
“In the meantime, Maradona is a figure who knows everything well. He can dance, sing, act and so on,” Menotti said quoting from The nation.
Menotti was the coach who led Argentina to their first World Cup win in 1978. Despite having been in football for many years, Menotti still feels high levels of tension when watching Albiceleste in action at the World Cup 2022 Mug.
Menotti is currently Director of the AFA.
“I thought at this point in my life I no longer suffer from football-related things, but I still feel that way.”
“Argentina won the title fairly, they played well. There is unity and a sense of belonging between the players, the coaching staff and the AFA,” said Menotti.
Argentina has collected three World Cup trophies in its history. After 1978, Argentina also won the World Cup in 1986.
Argentina won the 2022 World Cup after beating France in the final. Argentina won 4-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw in 120 minutes.
