The legendary Alan Lancaster from Status Quo has died

Founder, bassist and vocalist of the British rock band “Status Quo” Alan Lancaster has died at the age of 72, the independent record company “Barrel and Squider Records”, which worked with the musician, announced on its Twitter page.

“It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the death of the legendary Alan Lancaster of the State Quo. It has been a great honor for us to work with him in recent years,” the statement said.

A close friend of Lancaster, journalist Craig Bennett, wrote on Twitter that the singer died at his home in Sydney, Australia, surrounded by his family.

The musician has suffered from multiple sclerosis – a severe autoimmune disease that can cause a number of problems.

According to Bennett, Lancaster struggled with the disease and went on stage until the end, although it was difficult for him to move on his own.

In December 2016, State guitarist Rick Parfitt died at the age of 68.

The rock band States Quo was founded in 1962. The total circulation of the records sold to it exceeds 110 million copies.

In terms of the number of albums that became hits, the band is second only to the Rolling Stones.
