Adventure in endless lands
Seven years ago, on March 3, 2017, the Nintendo Switch and Wii U software “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” was released.
“The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” is an action-adventure game released by Nintendo. It was also a launch title for the Nintendo Switch, so I think there were quite a few people who bought it at the same time as the console.
It has received high praise from game fans around the world as a major evolution from the previous series. It has been hailed as the best masterpiece in the series, and has been popular both domestically and internationally.Breath of the Wild‘ It created a whirlwind. As of the end of December 2023, it has sold a total of 31.61 million copies worldwide.
The player takes on the role of the main character, “Link,” who wakes up from a 100-year slumber and adventures through the vast land of Hyrule. Since 100 years have passed, I think people were surprised that many of the people involved had already passed away.
The story that traces the past of the four heroes who once fought together was excellent, and I was left with the impression that exploring what happened 100 years ago was both interesting and a little scary. I also really liked how his relationship with Princess Zelda is revealed through “Utsushie’s memories.” Although it is quite short and fragmented, I really like this story.
And above all, speaking of “Breath of the Wild”, the sense of openness of the vast field is amazing. Although it is a so-called open world game, this work was created based on a concept called “open air”, and it gives you the illusion that a single world really exists. The great thing about it is that you can do it. It’s wonderful that various considerations have been made to ensure that Hyrule, the setting, doesn’t feel too strongly like a made-up game world.
There are reactions to even spontaneous actions, such as blowing up the plum tree in Kakariko Village, to the point where you get the illusion that the residents are really living there. If you wanted to go to a place you saw through a telescope, you would be able to climb up the wall, or if you were solving puzzles in a dungeon or shrine of trials, you would be able to clear it using unreasonable methods that you thought would be impossible. I was often surprised by how I could do almost anything I wanted to try, such as putting things away. It’s true that this kind of attention to detail may have diluted the sense of a well-crafted game world.
The fact that Link can climb most walls is also groundbreaking, and it’s shocking because if you set your mind to go where you want to go from the beginning, you can go there. Therefore, I can’t help but be surprised that it is possible to go straight to the final boss right after the start.
On June 30, 2017 and December 8, 2017, the paid downloadable contents “Champion of Trials” and “Poems of Heroes (Ballads)” will be distributed. Various new modes and equipment have been added, making the game even more fun to play. The main reward, the “Master Bike Type 0,” was really cool. Those who worked hard to obtain it must have ridden it to their heart’s content in vast Hyrule.
On April 26, 2019, “Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04:VR KitA free update compatible with “VR Goggles Toy-Con” has been released unexpectedly. Have you ever used VR goggles to take a closer look at a place with a nice view or your favorite equipment?
On November 20, 2020, we will be holding a movie titled “Zelda Warriors: Apocalypse of Calamity” was released by Koei Tecmo Games. Many players must have been intrigued by the dramatic depiction of unknown events that took place on the battlefield 100 years ago.
And the long-awaited sequel “The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom” will be released on May 12, 2023. A new adventure for Link is set in the land, sky, and even the depths of Hyrule.
