The Legacy of Egyptian Artist Safaa Abu Al-Saud

The Egyptian artist Safaa Abu Al-Saud is considered one of the most famous artists of her generation, and successive generations have grown up with her voice. Who among us does not know the official holiday song, “Welcome to Eid,” which is still popular among young and old.

Safaa Abu Al-Saud was born on October 9, 1950 in the city of Mansoura. She obtained a diploma from the Higher Institute of Cinema, Department of Directing, a diploma from the Conservatory of Music in 1967, and a Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Arts, Department of Psychology.

She entered the artistic field by chance, while she was still a child, through children’s programs with “Baba Sharo,” “Abla Fadila,” “Mama Samiha,” and composer Ahmed Ramzy.

Safaa’s talent was not limited to singing, but she also entered the field of cinema and television. However, the public’s love and attachment to her, especially the young ones, was due to her songs that delight the listeners’ ears.

Safaa performed many songs aimed at children, including: “My Friends and My Companions,” “Wardy, Wardi, Wardi,” and “Adi Our Library,” in addition to her famous song “Welcome to Eid,” during which she was afraid of being compared to the late Umm Kulthum. Especially since everyone was attached to her song, “Oh Eid Night.”

Safaa Abu Al-Saud married Saleh Kamel, a Saudi businessman, and gave birth to 3 daughters: Hadeel, Aseel, and Nadir. Thanks to her association with Sheikh Saleh, Safaa became the first Arab artist to have a private plane at her disposal for her transportation.

After a period of her relationship with Sheikh Saleh, Safaa sparked controversy over the size of her wealth, after she filed a report in which she accused her maid of stealing 219 pieces of jewelry worth 25 million pounds.

At the request of her husband, she retired from acting and began presenting programs.
