The chairman of ABV Rumen Petkov noted that with today’s decision of the cabinet, in fact, steps are being taken to provide the Ukrainian side not with what Bulgaria is able to give, but with everything it has, including the S-300 complex. In his analysis of the events, Petkov pointed out that with the planned replacement of the army armament, after the current one is given to Ukraine, the government puts a cross on the Bulgarian weapons complex.
„The change of armament will leave us unprepared – neither Sopot nor the other facilities will be able to produce a new type of weapon. You don’t imagine that Arsenal, for example, will start producing Thompson submachine guns? Just as you don’t imagine that if we get a new type of cannon, a new type of armor, our factories will be able to produce the shells for them. Those who develop such intentions are ready to realize them, because for them the Bulgarian defense industry does not and has never had any importance. We come to the conclusion that we entered NATO to guarantee ourselves more security, and the pressure with which they are now forcing us into the war guarantees us the opposite.”
Rumen Petkov expressed concern over the fact that it is planned to deploy live military forces and equipment in Shabla, and in this sense, according to the Law on Access to Public Information, “THE LEFT!” will seek answers to the questions – what type of construction and repair activities are undertaken in Shabla and around Shabla, the military airport in Balchik, the bases in Yambol and in Bezmer.
Petkov also commented on the news announcement in Ukrainian on BNT. He insisted on an end to double standards and called for news on the Bulgarian National Television in the languages of all those who have found their shelter in Bulgaria for 15 years – news in Afghan, Iraqi, Syrian, Libyan with all the resulting adverbs. At the same time, Petkov expressed doubt that news in Bulgarian about the Bulgarians in Ukraine will find a place in the broadcasts of Ukrainian television.
Maya Manolova noted the illegitimacy of the SJC with an expired mandate, but emphasized that, despite this, this composition of the Council opens a procedure for the election of a new Chief Prosecutor. After the relevant procedures for the election of a new SJC, the new prosecutor number 1 of Bulgaria will also be elected. Manolova commented on this fact as a total misunderstanding of the procedures and complete irresponsibility.
„We from “THE LEFT!” we call on the people’s representatives to implement the law that they themselves passed and to immediately start the election of a new composition of the Supreme Judicial Council. The moment these procedures are seen to have started from the parliamentary quota, certainly the professional quota as well, the professional guilds will fulfill their legal obligations to elect representatives of judges, prosecutors and investigators to the Supreme Judicial Council”.
