The Left Alliance has decided to put Turku on the list of candidates for next spring’s municipal elections Juho Pylvänäinenreports Helsingin Sanomat.
In 2021, Pylväninen confessed on social media that he was guilty of sexual harassment.
After the municipal elections of the same year, Turku Vasemmistoliitto wrote on Facebook that Pylvänäin would not have been nominated if the matter had come to the attention of the leadership of the party’s local branch in time.
However, now Pylvänäinen has been included in the list again, Helsingin Sanomat says.
“The matter has been dealt with completely”
Chairman of Turku Vasemmistoliitoto Mervi Uusitalo-Heikkinen according to him, it is a conscious decision, and the matter has been discussed with Pylvänäinen.
– Pylvänäinen has apologized publicly, sought help and changed his activities, Uusitalo-Heikkinen tells Helsingin Sanomat via text message.

Pylvänäinen tells Helsingin Sanomat that before running for office, he reminded the party of the harassment he had previously confessed to, so that the decision would be made consciously this time.
According to him, accepting the nomination does not mean accepting harassment. Pylvänäinen tells Helsingin Sanomat that he is going to therapy and has stopped drinking. He also says that he has spoken with some of the victims.
Pylvänäinen himself said on Facebook that the sexual harassment has been connected to situations where he himself has been drunk.
Pylvänäinen became known to the public in the summer of 2016 after marching in the Helsinki Pride parade in an army uniform.
