Barely closed, already reopened. The Leclerc gallery in Niort Mendès France is authorized to welcome the public again. Announcement from the Deux-Sèvres prefecture this Friday, February 5. The Géant gallery in Chauray remains closed.
“The authorization to reopen was given by the prefect. The gallery managers are in control of the timing. I imagine that they have some preparation operations. So I think this afternoon at the earliest. [vendredi], no later than tomorrow [samedi]”, indicates Jean-Luc Tarrega, the chief of staff of the prefect of Deux-Sèvres. It will be from this Friday afternoon one indicates on the side of the store. The shops had lowered the curtain on Tuesday, February 2.
An extension not yet open
New studies on the famous 20.000 m² were carried out. “We had a dialogue with officials on the basis of factual town planning documents. A building permit was filed in 2019 for areas that have not yet been completed and not yet open to the public”, specifies Jean-Luc Tarrega. These surfaces have therefore been removed from the calculation and we arrive at approximately 19,500 m². Géant is above 20,000 m² with 21,500 m² of usable retail space.
Reopening subject to the application of a strict sanitary protocol. “The managers of the shopping mall are committed to strengthening the sanitary arrangements, in particular by creating a sense of circulation. We continue to pursue the objective of limiting flows and mixing.”, indicates the chief of staff.
And Jean-Luc Tarrega to add: “The prefect had no obligation to allow this reopening. He has the power to take more binding measures. At 19,500 m², the prefect could have decided to keep the gallery closed. Today it is the symbol of local adaptation and the power of appreciation that is left to the prefect who gives these effects “.
