The leaked specifications of the Nvidia RTX 4060 card are disappointing

Different models of three new generation graphics cards from Nvidia are currently available on the market. Only the more expensive pieces have been released so far RTX 4090, RTX 4080 a RTX 4070 Ti (aka RTX 4080 12GB) for more demanding users and it seems that we will have to wait until April for the first cheaper graphics. A well-known leaker now brings information about a rather low-end model from the Ada Lovelace series, which is the card GeForce RTX 4060. Specifications at the same time they are not exciting at all unless an error occurred somewhere.

Speculations or leaks related to the RTX 4060 card have not been here for a long time. The last time we wrote about this card was perhaps in connection with the conviction of a manager of the Lenovo company acting under the nickname WolStame. According to what has now been revealed by renowned leaker kopite7kimi, whose claims about graphics from the Nvidia workshop are perhaps among the most accurate, that looks like WolStame really overestimated the green team.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card is supposed to have a full chip configuration AD107which has only 3072 CUDA cores. This is perhaps the first time ever that a desktop card labeled 60 should have a board fitted with a 107 chip. Even my RTX 3060 is equipped with the GA106 chip, which uses more than 500 CUDA cores more. By the way, the specifications of the chip that the leaker is talking about are identical to those that the RTX 4060 notebook variant should have. However, it should not be a mistake because the PCB designation (PG190) is mentioned in the tweet.

RTX 4060 is to be used further 8GB of GDDR6 memory (not the faster GDDR6X, unfortunately), which will run at 18 gigabit speed po 128-bit bus – the resulting throughput will be a maximum of 288 GB/s. Consumption will reportedly be 115 W.

Given that this will be a next-gen card, we can still expect an improvement over its predecessor, despite these strange specs. AND the memory capacity is, for some mysterious reason, lower than that of the classic RTX 3060 variant, which also uses a wider bus, as a result of which it achieves significantly higher throughput. Although the size of the L2 cache will increase to 21 MB, which will be useful when playing with a higher resolution, however, it is still probably good to anticipate problems in advance with titles that like to enjoy VRAM (such as Hogwarts Legacy).

The WCCFTECH server expects a price tag of around 300 to 400 US dollars, which represents price range from 6,650 to 8,900 crowns in conversion.
