Since September 2, 2024, the Klaus Luger era has been Linz’s city history and it is time to look resolutely forward. Against this background and with a view to new stability in Linz City Hall, there is now a cross-party agreement that the election – including a possible run-off – should take place before Christmas.
Specifically, the club leaders of ÖVP, FPÖ, Greens, Neos, Linz+ and MFG are appealing to interim mayor Karin Hörzing to declare December 8, 2024 as election day. According to information from the state of Upper Austria, this is also the earliest possible date on which the municipal ballot can be scheduled.
Joint letter
“It is important to prevent a long election campaign. The order of the day must be to quickly restore the necessary stability at the political level in the state capital. Therefore, a clear appeal to Hörzing: Take the democratically legitimated majority in the municipal council seriously and reject the party tactical games. Together for stability. For Linz. – on December 8, 2024,” demand the parliamentary group leaders of the ÖVP, FPÖ, Greens, Neos, Linz+ and MFG in unison.
