The leader of Podemos in Andalusia is already ‘caste’, a house is bought in Cádiz a year after reaching the Congress

The secretary general of Podemos in Andalusia, Martina Velarde, goes on to swell the long list of purple deputies who have bought a home after securing their seat in the lower house. This parliamentarian has modified her declaration of assets and income to incorporate the acquisition of a house in Rota (Cádiz).

Velarde has bought the house in his hometown. In her case, she is a deputy cunera of Unidos Podemos since it does not occupy a seat by its place of origin, that is, by the constituency of Cádiz, but rather does for the province of Córdoba, where he headed the purple list for the last general elections.

According to its declaration of assets and income, which was modified by herself dated December 1, 2020, the transaction of sale of the property, over which it claims to have full control, was carried out last October 30. Likewise, the leader of Podemos in Andalusia after the break with the anti-capitalists of Teresa Rodríguez, declared a mortgage loan on the same date for an amount of 100.800 euros and with an outstanding balance of 100,203.76 at the time of filing said return.

However, Velarde omits the bank with which it operates and does not report any other asset, not even the balance in a current account, as a large part of the deputies do. However, in the observations section of the brief, the deputy of United We Can-En Comú-Galicia en Común maintains: “For the sake of transparency and updating of my assets, I present a statement of the recently acquired real estate.”

In the previous declaration of assets, the presented in november At the beginning of the current legislature and almost a year before buying his home in Cádiz, Velarde gave an account of 16.876 euros as “deposit in a current savings account on November 26, 2019”. In addition, he claimed to own a Renault Mégane, acquired in July 2018.

Since May 2019

Velarde managed to reach Congress in May 2019 as a deputy of United We Can for Córdoba after the general elections of April 25 that led to a failed legislature and ended up repeating on November 10 of the same year. The purple leader managed to retain the seat, while Ciudadanos lost theirs and the PP won it. One year and five months after obtaining the seat for the first time, he bought the aforementioned house and signed a mortgage of 100,800 euros.

In her candidacy for the Podemos primaries for those elections, Martina Velarde (41 years old) reported that she graduated in Law from the Faculty of Granada. He also completed a master’s degree in legal practice and obtained the Certificate of Professional Aptitude. Along with this, she adds training as a lawyer in a law firm, specializing in civil and labor law. «After five years working in Granada as a lawyer, I moved to Córdoba for work and family reasons, where I have lived and worked for eight years ”, he pointed out at the end of 2018.

Almost a third

«I got involved in the Podemos project in the European elections, and I continued working in the Podemos Córdoba CCM and then in the housing area of the CCA. Now I know I was not wrong, observing that with work and dedication changes are possible, “he said then with an anti-caste speech. In his motivation to appear for the Córdoba district, Velarde added: «We have the obligation to change policies that have brought us here, so that they do not continue to precarious the lives of our neighbors, “he sentenced.

The Velarde case is not an isolated event. As OKDIARIO published a few weeks ago, almost a third of the current deputies of United We Can-En Comú-Galicia en Común bought a house after arriving in Congress. The real estate assets of these parliamentarians have grown significantly since the party came to the lower house for the first time in 2016. This is revealed by their own declarations of assets and income in the different legislatures since then. Some of them hold positions in the Government but have not resigned from the seat.

There are the cases of the leaders of the purple formation, Pablo Iglesias e Irene Montero, who bought in 2018 a case of more than 600,000 euros in Galapagar (Madrid), as revealed by OKDIARIO exclusively. An estate of 2,300 square meters, with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, with a large garden, pool and guest house. To face the purchase, the current Second Vice President of the Government and holder of Social Rights and Agenda 2030 requested a mortgage worth 540.000 euros, whose obligations it shares 50% with the current Minister of Equality.

There are also cases of Alberto Garzon, today Minister of Consumption, Ione Belarra, current Secretary of State for Agenda 2030; Isabel Franco, Antonio Gómez Reino, Alberto Rodriguez, Maria del Carmen Pita O Aina Vidal.
