The lawyers of the accused police officers from the Third 3rd District Court in Plovdiv requested an open trial despite the attached SRS, a reporter told Plovdiv24.bg. “Let the public get acquainted with the real facts, not with the interpretations of the prosecution,” they said, adding that briefings are given before the trial, which creates a negative image in society.
This also puts heavy pressure on the judiciary. The lawyers pointed out that the only thing that could be considered an intimate detail was the statement of one of the witnesses, Manaf, that he had been hit on the genitals. This statement subsequently turned out to be untrue.
Nevertheless, the court today decided to hear the case behind closed doors. Before that, he gave the lawyers 2 hours to get acquainted with the materials on the new accusation brought against the head of the 3rd District Court, Samuil Hadjiev. It concerns the concealment of evidence in connection with the investigation of the causes of the severe accident on the Plovdiv Ring Road on Easter.
Lawyer Dimitar Markovski commented that the prosecutor’s office filed the new indictment at a time when Hadjiev was in hospital with a severe kidney crisis and did not have the opportunity to meet him. Today, the head of 3RU appeared in person in court.
