The Plenary Session of the Bar Associations of the country decided during today’s meeting to extend the abstention of the lawyers. The decision was taken by a majority and concerns the abstention of the lawyers from all criminal trials until Friday 1.3.2024 as well as from “the issuance of Payment Orders and the acts of forced execution of Banks and Claims Management Companies (Funds) until 31.3.2024” .
There was a difference from the Athens Bar Association (DSA), which is suspending the mobilizations from next Monday. The decision was taken by an overwhelming majority of 22 to 2.
“The Board of Directors of the DSA, assessing the situation that has been brought about by the above legislative amendments and also the long-term targeted mobilization of the sector for this specific issue, weighing all the facts that prevail at this particular moment, decided by a majority to suspend the targeted abstention from criminal trials, including those related to article 187 of the Criminal Code, from Monday, February 26, 2024″ is pointed out, among other things, in the relevant announcement of the DSA.
