One week after the arrest of Rafael Amargo in Alicante for an alleged crime of drug trafficking, Europa Press has spoken exclusively with his lawyer, Jaime Caballero, to find out what the artist’s situation is after he broke his silence for the programs ‘Y ahora Sonsoles’ and ‘En boca de todos’ assuring that he is innocent.
The dancer’s lawyer asks that they let him work because “he needs to work, he is a person who has worked all his life and what he wants is to continue working. There have been many people, you know them, celebrities, acquaintances or whatever you want to call them who have had problems with the law, many, we all remember them without saying names, and they have worked» and he adds: «He has two children, he has obligations, He has a family, please let him work, just that.”
Jaime has confessed to us that his client “is upset, he’s wrong, how is he going to be?” but he is also “calm because of the legal part that can perfectly clarify and justify it, in this case of what is being accused and uncomfortable because he personally feels harassed, and I really mean it.”
Caballero believes that taking away Amargo’s passport is a precautionary measure, unnecessary as he is a well-known person: «I, in my opinion, withdrawing the passport of a well-known person and of a very notable person seems to me a way of limiting their rights because He’s not going anywhere.” And it is that the artist «had an opportunity to work in Turkey, a very important show, he had an opportunity to work in India, in Bollywood, in a very important blockbuster, and he has also lost it, and well if we are talking about an unknown person who could evade justice. He has not yet been tried, we are going to let him work, at least work ».
On how Rafael’s future is planned until the trial, his lawyer explains that all that remains is to prepare: “right now we can’t do more than read the testimonies, see details, look for evidence, check data, and we can’t do more. Wait for this trial and then another trial will come, the one in Alicante, which for me was absolutely unnecessary, that is, the one in Alicante could have been avoided. But hey, I can’t criticize anyone, just do my job, nothing more ».
