The lawyer for the defendants referred to the possibility of someone testifying in the trial for the crime of Báez Sosa

The defender of the eight defendants for the crime of Fernando Báez Sosa, Hugo Tomei, He preferred not to anticipate whether the statement of another of the defendants is scheduled, after the surprising intervention of Luciano Pertossi at the hearing last Thursday, and he assured today, at the end of the last day of the trial, that “the process is dynamic” and “anything can happen.”

“Anything can happen. There is nothing closed or scheduled. In a debate there are certain situations and you have to be attentive to clarify things”, said the lawyer, in dialogue with the news signal C5Nafter leaving the courts of the city of Dolores.

Regarding the second week of testimonies, which ended around 11:00, he said: “To give a summary, I would have to be thinking about it and I am not doing it. We have finished a hearing and the ideas are those that arise at this moment. We have finished a week. We have the weekend left to think and we’ll see”.

Looking ahead to the last three hearings scheduled for next week, Tomei indicated that a group of expert witnesses summoned by the defense “will give explanations of the case.”regarding the forensic and video analyzes carried out in the framework of the investigation of the case.

“We’ll see what they say. We will wait,” said the lawyer, who early this Friday held a meeting of almost two hours with all the defendants on the ground floor of the courts of Dolores.

At the end of the second week of testimonies before the Oral Criminal Court 1 of Dolores, two volunteer firefighters who assisted Báez Sosa minutes after he was attacked also declared that when they arrived at the scene “he had no vital signs ”.

A witness who testified today in the framework of the trial for the crime of Fernando Báez Sosa, which occurred on January 18, 2020 in the Buenos Aires seaside resort of Villa Gesell, assured that the rugby player Lucas Pertossi, one of the eight defendants, hit him in the city of Zárate weeks before the event and also threatened to kill him and steal his motorcycle.

“I’m going to kill you son of a bitch, I’m going to steal your motorcycle”, was the phrase that according to the witness Pablo Gastón Zapata, a young man from the same town as the eight defendants, Pertossi (23) told him when he intercepted and beat him in a bar, on December 15, 2019. According to him, during that incident, he tripped over a step and suffered a fracture in the upper part of his tibia, and when he fell, the defendant himself “threw things” at him.

Zapata specified in this sense before the judges María Claudia Castro, Christian Rabaia and Emiliano Lázzari that when leaving that place, “the motorcycle was no longer there.” He further stated that five days before that attack he had suffered “a kicking” and “a beating” by a group of which Pertossi was also a part.

Zapata assured that he had denounced the robbery and the beating, although without specifying the name of the alleged perpetrator at the time, although sources close to the defense of the rugby players said after the hearing that Lucas Pertossi “was never charged for that fact.”
