NOS newstoday, 10:50Changed today, 11:14

There will be no further proposals this year to restore the distribution law. Minister Faber of Asylum and Migration has planned to send his laws to the House of Representatives. Here she writes, among other things, that the bill to restore the circulation law “will be submitted for consultation and implementation tests in the first quarter of 2025”. This is about advice from organizations such as the IND and the police.

In the letter the cabinet three weeks ago which was sent to the House with further agreements on asylum saying that the bill would be introduced “if it was possible this year”.

The distribution law has been in place since the beginning of this year. The main reason is that cities can be forced to take in asylum seekers. The coalition wants to eliminate that obligation.

Emergency Asylum Measures Act to the Council of State this year

It is the government’s intention that the ‘Asylum Emergency Measures Act’ to relieve the burden on the asylum chain and reduce the influx will be submitted for consultation and implementation tests this year. And the Council of State will be asked for urgent advice on that law this year. Faber wants to submit the proposal to the House of Representatives as soon as possible.

The Asylum Emergency Measures Act states, among other things, that asylum permits will no longer be issued indefinitely. It should also be easier to declare someone undesirable after a conviction and the option for adult children and unmarried partners to travel in connection with family reunification will be abolished.

In her letter, the minister also talks about several other measures and when she expects to take them. Her commitment is to get the bills in as soon as possible. But she emphasizes that it is a timetable and that it is “subject to various factors”.
