In the first round of the playoffs, the Latvian duo lost to Italy Orietai Berto and Paolo Joriati in the semifinals.
After four ends, Rozhkov and Lasman were only 5: 6, but in the next four they scored only one point, while the Italians answered with five.
With five victories in eight games, Latvia took second place in subgroup B and entered the “play-off”.
At the start of the championship on Saturday, Latvia lost to Canada 4: 8, lost to Norway 8: 9 and defeated Germany 9: 5, while an 8: 7 victory over the Czech Republic and a 10: 4 victory over Turkey were won on Monday. On Tuesday, in the morning session, Latvia conceded to Denmark with 3: 8, but in the second game of the day it defeated Slovakia with 8: 5, but on Wednesday it defeated the United States with 6: 3.
The 18 teams first took part in the group tournament. The top three in each group secured a place in the “play-off” round. The first place winners automatically qualified for the semi-finals, while the second and third place winners determined the remaining semi-finalists. The winners of the semi-finals will compete for the title of the first world champions on Thursday.
