In the New Hall of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet (LNOB) on November 21, the ballet “Two Meters” will be premiered by choreographers Elza Leimane, Antons Freimans and Aivars Leimanis in collaboration with set designer Andris Freiberga, costume designer Kristīne Pasternak and light artist K representatives.
The ballet production “Two Meters” is both a serious and humorous reaction of choreographers Elza Leiman, Anton Freiman and Aivars Leimanis to the ballet artist’s internal experiences during the pandemic.
Prolonged etude “Fellow Man” created by Alsace Leiman tells of a man who is unable to find a way out of the theater and at the same time from himself. It is a dancer’s attempt to solve the most difficult – a relationship with yourself. Anton Freiman has created a theatrical performance about the emotional and physical aspects of the artist, resuming dancing after a long forced break. In turn, the sketch created by Aivars Leimanis will experiment with mandatory rules, mentioning what ballet would look like if artists had to observe a distance of two meters. The unifying element of the production this time will be the word spoken by ballet artists.
The new study is supported by the State Cultural Capital Fund.
