Both teams are preparing for the 2023 World Cup pre-qualification tournament, which the Latvian team will hold in Riga from August 7 to 13.

Latvian Basketball Union (LBS) recalled that less than a year ago, the Swiss national team was able to beat the Serbian team in the European Championship qualifiers, but in August in the pre-qualifying tournament for the 2023 World Cup, it will compete in the same group as the national teams of Northern Macedonia and Slovakia.

Latvians have won in all six mutual national team games. The previous meeting was on November 25, 2000 in Riga – 92:67.

A week later, on August 1, at 7 pm, the Slovak national team will face Latvia at the Vidzeme Olympic Center in Valmiera.

The Latvian men’s national team started preparing for the 2023 World Cup pre-qualification tournament in mid-July.

It has already been reported that the health condition did not allow Barcelona player Roland Schmidt to get involved in the work of the national team. Aigars Šķēle left the rank due to a foot injury in training.

In the pre-qualification tournament of the 2023 World Cup “Arena Riga”, the Latvian national team will compete with the Romanian (August 7 and 11) and Belarus national teams (August 8 and 12). After the two-lap tournament, the top two teams will continue their battle for the road sign to the World Cup final in November 2023 in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines.
