The funding attracted by the Ministry of Culture will allow the creation of high-quality, artistically high-quality Latvian feature films, as well as original series (multi-series films), while preserving jobs for those working in the industry during the production process. The new films will promote the wider availability of cultural services to domestic audiences.
“In order to maintain the level achieved during the century in the development of the industry, it was important to find opportunities to attract additional funding in the coming years: during Covid-19, additional funding was provided to the cinema industry and operations did not stop; Many new films are being made, thus promoting both employment and the targeted use of professional skills. Minister Nauris Puntulis.
The National Film Center plans to announce the project application by February 7 this year. The new series and films will have to be shot by the end of 2023.
