The latest research predicts that cases of type 1 diabetes will increase worldwide in 2040, find out why

THE MIND OF THE PEOPLE According to a recent study, researchers estimate that the number of type 1 diabetes cases worldwide could double to 17 million by 2040.

Experts point to several reasons for the increase in cases of type 1 diabetes.

These include better testing and better disease management that will allow people to live longer lives.

They say the increase in cases will increase the responsibility for families, community groups and the health sector.

From the study results, it is estimated that the number of people living with type 1 diabetes globally could increase between 13.5 million and 17.4 million people by 2040.

A model study published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology predicts type 1 diabetes will increase in all countries by 2040, compared to 8.7 million people now living with type 1 diabetes.

“Our findings provide a warning to the substantial negative implications for society and the health system,” said Dr. Graham Ogle, co-author of the study and a professor at the University of Sydney in Australia, said in a statement.

“There is an opportunity to save millions of lives over the next few decades by raising the standard of care for T1D (including ensuring universal access to insulin and other essential supplies) and increasing awareness of the signs and symptoms of T1D for allow a 100% rate of diagnosis in all countries, “said Dr. Graham Ogle.
