It was released in cinemas less than three months ago, and from now on it is available without any additional costs for everyone with a Disney Plus subscription: “Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever” – before the latest MCU chapter hits the cinema in two weeks comes.
It’s always exciting to see the fast-moving times we live in – as the home cinema debut “Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever” shows. The 250 million dollar Marvel blockbuster was one of the most expensive cinema productions of the previous year and was able to flush an impressive 842 million dollars into the box office worldwide. And yet it took less than three months for the visually stunning superhero spectacle to find its way from the big screen to television sets worldwide.
Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever is available now Disney+ accessible and is available there as a stream for all subscribers at no additional cost. At the beginning of the corona pandemic (e.g. with “Mulan”), the streaming provider still relied on VIP access for individual films for which you were asked to pay extra, free home delivery without any extra charge is now standard – “Thor: Love And Thunder” and “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness” have recently found their way from the screen to Disney+ at high speed.

While “Wakanda Forever” was the sixth most successful film of the previous year, significantly fewer people went to the cinemas for the sequel than for “Black Panther”. It brought the big Marvel surprise in 2018 and was able to bring in almost $ 1.35 billion in the end. In the sequel, many now saved themselves the trip to the cinema, possibly also in view of the relatively short time later in the house streaming start.
Was it worth the wait or would you rather have seen the film on screen? This is exactly what you can see for yourself from the comfort of your sofa. We can give a recommendation for the film itself anyway.
“Black Panther 2”: The MCU is growing up
“Ryan Coogler was given a supposedly insurmountable task after his star Chadwick Boseman died from cancer,” says FILMSTARTS editor-in-chief Christoph Petersen in the conclusion of our review, among other things – only to clear all skepticism out of the way in the same breath. With “Wakanda Forever”, Coogler “not only formed what is probably the most adult to date, but also one of the stronger contributions to the MCU.” In the end, there was the second Wakanda adventure, with which a real world war entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe , strong 4 out of 5 possible stars.
Black Panther 2 does what no Marvel blockbuster has done before
And that’s what Black Panther 2 is all about: After the death of King T’Challa, it’s up to Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke) and the warriors of the Dora Milaje to protect their beloved homeland of Wakanda from the evil world powers. Not only does the valuable mineral vibranium play a decisive role, but also Namor (Tenoch Huerta) and his followers from the nation of Talokan, who has been living undiscovered on the seabed for centuries…
New MCU supplies will follow in 2 weeks – in cinemas!
Almost three months have passed since the theatrical release of “Wakanda Forever”. And given the regularity with which Marvel’s superhero universe has been expanding over the years, that can only mean one thing: the next chapter is almost upon us!
With “Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania“ will start on February 15, 2023, the meanwhile 31st film of the MCU in the cinemas. In it we can expect not only the return of Scott Lang aka Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne aka Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), but also the MCU debut of the super villain Kang – played by shooting star Jonathan Majors, who it recently appeared in “Devotion” on Netflix and also in “Creed III” from March 2nd. Our Marvel expert Sebastian has already taken a closer look at Kang in advance – and in this video explains, among other things, what great importance he is likely to have. After all, “Avengers 5” is titled “The Kang Dynasty”…
