The latest images of the Hubble Space Telescope revealed an amazing view of a star cluster that looks like a cosmic snowball, is 11.6 billion years old, and is located in the Large Magellanic Cloud.
According to the Space website, this star cluster is known as NGC 2210. It is a closed star cluster (or spherical star cluster) and is located in a dwarf galaxy affiliated with the Milky Way known as the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC).
Although NGC 2210 was first discovered in 1835 by John Herschel, 2023 marks the first time that the Hubble Telescope, which was launched in 1990, will capture a complete image of this captivating globular cluster.
The resulting image not only holds enormous scientific value, but also serves as a testament to the amazing beauty that lies within our world.
The age of this spherical star cluster, located about 158 thousand light-years from Earth, is estimated at about 11.6 billion years. Which makes it relatively small compared to other globular clusters.
