Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – WhatsApp users can now send messages to their numbers. Not too long ago, the platform rolled out a feature called Message Yourself for Android and iOS users in the coming weeks.
The user number will be on top of the WhatsApp contact to create a new chat. Users just need to press the contact and they will enter the chat room, just like sending messages normally, quoted from Tech CrunchThursday (1/12/2022).
Users can also pin chats at the top of the conversation list. This method makes them not have to look for it in the WhatsApp chat list.
Previous report WABetaInfo, the feature went into beta testing at the end of October. For Tech CrunchWhatsApp confirmed the report and said the feature has begun rolling out globally.
Even though the feature is still relatively new, a number of users have actually used it some time ago.
Users can send messages to their number with the “click to chat” feature in the app. With the new feature, users don’t have to go through any extra steps using the wa.me URL.
In fact, the chat feature on your own number was first presented by WhatsApp’s competitor, Signal. The instant messaging platform has a feature called Notes to Self.
But the difference is that Signal doesn’t suggest the number of the user at the top of the recipient list. Users have to search and select the contact entries themselves to use them.
