Hawkins was found dead at a hotel in Bogota, Colombia, where the group was to perform at a music festival. The concert was canceled, thousands of fans who came to it kept a minute of silence for the musician. The band also canceled another planned concert in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Hawkins has been with the Foo Fighters since 1997, when she replaced her original drummer William Goldsmith. The group Foo Fighters was formed in 1994 and performed several times in Prague.
