The last years of the life of Santa Dulce dos Pobres will be portrayed in a new book

The book “ Além da Fé – A Vida de Irmã Dulce”, a biography written by journalist Valber Carvalho that pays homage to the legacy of Santa Dulce dos Pobres, will be continued. Entitled “The Last Door – The Life of Sister Dulce Part 2”, the new work focuses on the period between 1953 and 1992 and will be released on December 12th, starting at 4pm, at Shopping Barra, in Salvador.

With prefaces signed by former banker Angelo Calmon de Sá and Valber himself, as well as a third surprise, the book brings together around 200 images, most of them unpublished, as well as a passage by the spiritualist leader Divaldo Franco, who defines the first Brazilian Saint as “the greatest soul born among Catholics in centuries”, and a note written by Anjo Bom to the President of the United States, John Kennedy, in 1962. “Thank you to the good friend of the Brazilian people. From your admirer and companion Sister Dulce Lopes Pontes” , says the message in which Santa Dulce thanked him for the food assistance that Kennedy sent to the Alagados community.

“Beyond Faith” and “The Last Door” are the fruits of 10 years of research by Valber. During the creative process, the journalist carried out more than 500 interviews, in addition to studying more than 13 thousand documents.
